Prijepolje , in Serb Cyrillic Пријепоље, is a city and a municipality of Serbia located in the district of Zlatibor. In 2002, the city counted 15.031 inhabitants and the municipality of which it is the center 41.188, including 56,82% of Serbes and 31,83% of Musulmans.

Prijepolje is located at the confluence of the Lim and the Mileševka Reka, along a road which existed already time of the Romains. The name of the city would mean " in front of the champs".

The area was inhabited with the Stone Age and the first to be settled there were the It, then the Celtes. It was then integrated into the Roman Empire.

A first establishment was founded in 1234, the year even of the construction of the Monastère of Mileševa which is located at 6km current city.

The town of Prijepolje it even is mentioned for the first time by historical sources in 1343.

The city and its area preserve momuments of the Othoman time , in particular the Tower of the Clock and several mosques.
