Price of the free expression

The Price of the free expression , created in 1991 by the International union of the French-speaking press (UPF), with the assistance of the intergovernmental Agency of the Francophonie (AIFF), is allotted to a journalist who has “in a harsh environment, maintained his independence in spite of the attacks with its person” (Article 2).

  • 1993: Land-mark Oumalou (Algeria).
  • 1995: Edouard Ouédraogo, director of the Observer Paalga (Burkina Faso).
  • 1996: Bah Ould Saleck directing of the weekly magazine Mauritania News (Mauritania).
  • 1997: The Algerian independent press (Algeria).
  • 1998: Begoto Yaldet Oulatar, director of “Ndjamena Hebdo” (Chad).
  • 2000: Michel Auger, journalist with the Newspaper of Montreal (Canada)
  • 2001: Lucien Messan, director of the Combat of the People , Lome (Togo), given in 2003.
  • 2003: Renovating the , newspaper published with Vientiane (Laos).
  • 2004: Newspapers of Abidjan the Patriot and 24 hours (Ivory Coast).
