Price Lionel-Ball

The Prix Lionel-Ball is one of the eleven Prix of Quebec decreed annually by the government of the Quebec. It crowns the whole of the career and the work of an Enquiring Québécois.

Description of the price

The achievements recognized by this price are the inventions, the Innovation S scientists or technological, the Leadership in the scientific development and the contribution with the economic growth of Quebec.

The criteria of eligibility at the price are:

  • the candidate must be Canadian Citoyen and live or have lived in Quebec;
  • a person cannot receive the same price twice, but it can receive from it more than one same year;
  • a price cannot be allotted to several people unless these people take part in joint achievements;
  • a price cannot be allotted to posthumous Titer.

The price:

  • a nontaxable Stock Exchange of 30.000 $;
  • a Medal silver realized by a Québécois artist;
  • a parchment penmanship and a button of reverse carrying the symbol of the Prices of Quebec;
  • a part of exclusive Jewelry to the prizes winner and the prizes winner;
  • a public homage to the prizes winner and the prizes winner by the government of Quebec during an official ceremony.

Origin of the name

The price owes its name with Lionel Boulet (1919 - 1996), first director (1967 - 1982) of IREQ, the Research institute of Hydro-Quebec. One him must, whereas it was with the head of the Department of electronic engineering of the Université Laval, have launched the creation of the IREQ, project which was accepted in 1965.
