Description of the price

The price Athanase-David is one of the eleven Prix of Quebec given annually by the government of Quebec to reward the achievements for Inhabitant of Quebec in various fields of the Art S and the Science S.

The literary kinds recognized by this price are the Conte, the Nouvelle, the Poésie, the Récit, the Romance , the Dramaturgie, the Cartoon, the Essai, the Critique arts person, the Journalisme and all the forms of Littérature for youth.

The criteria of eligibility at the price are:

  • the candidate must be Canadian Citoyen and live or have lived in Quebec;
  • a person cannot receive the same price twice, but it can receive from it more than one same year;
  • a price cannot be allotted to several people unless these people take part in joint achievements;
  • a price cannot be allotted to posthumous Titer.

The price:

  • a nontaxable Stock Exchange of 30.000 $;
  • a Medal silver realized by a Québécois artist;
  • a parchment penmanship and a button of reverse carrying the symbol of the Prices of Quebec;
  • a part of exclusive Jewelry to the prizes winner and the prizes winner;
  • a public homage to the prizes winner and the prizes winner by the government of Quebec during an official ceremony.

Origin of the name

The price owes its name with Athanase David (1882 - 1953), secretary and Registraire of the province of Quebec of 1919 with 1936. It is him which instituted in 1922 the literary Concours and scientist (also called Prix David) with an aim of supporting the work of writers and researchers of the Quebec.
