The Preventive Federal police (of Spanish Federal Policia Preventiva ), called PFP is the name given to the Police force of the Federal government of the Mexico.

Function of the PFP

The PFP was created in December 1998 within the framework of the national Système of public safety , an against-insurrectionary concept inspired of the methods of the government of the the United States. One of the objectives posted by the federal government of Mexico would be d'" assainir" police bodies which become was too much infiltrated and overflowed by the organized crime.

After having started a strike on April 20th, 1999, the students of the Autonomous National university of Mexico City claim better means in order to defend public and free education in Mexico. After more than nine months of strike and without obtaining agreements with the university authorities, the students are made expel by the PFP on February 6th, 2000.

Closing of a Community radio with Oaxaca

January 7th, 2005, about fifty agents of the PFP, accompanied civils servant by the ministry for the Communication and Transport (SCT), closes the Community radio San Jacinto 88.5 FM. Many voices then denounce nonthe respect of the Freedom of expression and municipal autonomy.

Expulsion of the minors of Sicartsa

April 20th, 2006, the police force of the State of the Michoacan, helped of the PFP, the minors of the iron and steel company dislodge Sicartsa with Lazaro Cardenas. These minors, burdens some since April 2nd are done violently repressed, two of them are made kill and 54 wounded (including 21 per firearm). To October of the same year, the National Commission of the Human rights presents the evidence that the action taken by the PFP had not been it under grant of representation, and that the use of the firearms was illegal.

May 4th, 2006, the PFP intervenes in the locality of Atenco, located in the suburbs of the Mexico City capital. After a popular revolt has took place because of the eviction of travelling merchants, the PFP eliminates the beginning from insurrection. Occupation of the town of Oaxaca

The state of Oaxaca is in a state of insurrection since the month of June 2006, a popular assembly was formed (APPO) in margin of the official government. The federal government, on request of the government of the state of Oaxaca, begins the sending of troops during the month of August 2006. The troops, associated with the local police, take again the control of the downtown area of the capital Oaxaca de Juarez on October 29th, 2006 after many confrontations with the members of the APPO. November 2nd, the PFP tries to take the control of the university campus, new districts of the APPO, but is pushed back by a crowd of well organized and armed demonstrators. Many combat take place during November between demonstrators and the PFP. Actions perpetrated by the PFP, like the use of gas peppers, shootings on crowd and raids among the demonstrators and the passers by will be denounced by many nonofficial organizations of defense of the human rights.
