Presses of Sciences Po
The Presses of Sciences Po are a university Publisher specialized in the field of the Social sciences and depend on the national Fondation of political sciences (FNSP). Created in 1976 under the name of Presses of the national Foundation of political sciences by Louis Bodin, they were directed by this one until in 1994. Their direction was then ensured by Bertrand Badie until in 2003, then by Marie-Genevieve Vandesande.
Their catalog has nine hundred titles and grows rich by thirty innovations per annum, of which a majority treating of topics relative to the international one. The authors published are teachers and doctorands with the Institut of political studies of Paris and researchers of the FNSP, as well as scientists coming from other institutions.
Juridically, the Presses are a Limited liability company (limited liability company) always named Presses for the national Foundation of political sciences, and whose manager is the director of Finances of the FNSP, currently Yves Richard. They fulfill the mission of edition of the Foundation, are largely Déficit surfaces, and arrive at balance only by one subsidy of the Foundation slightly higher than their Turnover. A commercial and leading revival was carried out in 2005 in order to reduce the costs. They use since 1995 the mark “Presses of Sciences Po”, recently also posted on the covers like “Sciences Po - the Presses”.
Collections and fields
In 2005, the distribution of the collections was reconsidered and tightened, and the works from now on are published between the collections:- “ Academic ”, collection of research tasks in social sciences, bound for the specialists.
- “ Facets ”, collection of organized bibliographies in a way set of themes rather than chronological.
- “ References ”.
- “ the Handbooks of Sciences Po ”, launched in May 2005 to replace the collection “Amphitheater” coéditée with Dalloz, is a collection of handbooks drawn from lectures of the Institut of studies political of Paris, and intended for the students of the IEP, universities and Universities. The first handbook published is Histoire and right States of Jean Picq, resulting from its course of second year.
- “ New debates ”, launched in January 2005 to replace “the Library of the citizen”, is a collection of tests short and synthetic relating to topics of topicality and intended for the students as with the general public, in format of pocket.
The leading policies are in fact carried out in term of “fields” sets of themes, which traverse the collections, except “New debates”:

- “ Makes political ”, directed by Pascal Perrineau and Janine Mossuz-Lavau, which includes the old collection “Chronicles electoral”: Works of political science and political thought.
- “ Governorships ”, directed by Patrick Wales, Denis Segrestin and Michael Storper: Works on the public policies, the institutions and the political actors.
- “ History ”, directed by Claire Andrieu, Serge Berstein and Guillaume Piketty: Works of history of the 20th century.
- “ Worlds ”, directed by Alain Dieckhoff and Karoline Postel-Vinay: Works universalization and international relations.
- “ Companies moving ”, directed by Nonna Mayer and Edmond Preteceille: Works on the transformations of the contemporary companies.
