Press-Ocean is a French regional newspaper whose seat is with Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). He is regarded as the historical daily newspaper of the Nantes one.

He is published in five editions distributed on the departments of the Loire-Atlantique and the the Vendée. In this last department, it appears under the denomination the Vendée Matin.

History

The daily newspaper the Resistance of the West is born in 1944 with Nantes. It makes following the daily newspaper the Headlight of the Loire, for which wrote Marcel Schwob, whose father was the owner.

The newspaper changes name in June 1960 to become Press-Ocean. It is published by the S.E.R.P.O. (Company of Edition of the Resistance of the Press of the West), chaired by the former minister Philippe Mestre between 1981 and 1993.

It absorbs the Flash , another Nantes daily newspaper thus famous in 1956, resulting from the founded Populaire in 1884.

Property of the Socpresse, Press-Ocean passes in 2004 Groupe Harrowing to the hands of the industrialist Serge Dassault. This last sells the newspaper with the Groupe Ouest-France in December 2005. In February 2006, Dominique Luneau was appointed editor association by the new owner.

In December 2004, the newspaper launched its own hertzian television channel emitting on the Nantes metropolis: Nantes 7.

Organization

Press-Ocean has a team of 60 journalists and 350 local correspondents, attached to 10 draftings (6 in the Loire Atlantique and 4 in the Vendée).
