Presidio of San Francisco
The Presidio of San Francisco (in Spanish, El Presidio of San Francisco ) is a park located at the north of the peninsula of San Francisco. It is managed by the National Park Service of the the United States within the framework of the Golden Spoils National Re-creation Area . It is characterized by many surfaces timbered, hills and beautiful points of view on the Baie of San Francisco.
History
Presidio was initially strong Spanish built on March 28th, 1776 on the decision of Juan Bautista de Anza and built by Jose JoaquĆn Moraga one year later. Then the American army settled there in 1848. Many generals of the US Army, of William Sherman with John Pershing, resided at it. Until its closing in 1995, it was the military base U.S. which remained in activity more lontemps.
