The table below counts the presidents of the République of Moldavie since its independence the August 27th 1991 following the dissolution of the Union of the Soviet socialist republics.

The mandate of president of the Republic of Moldavie is five years. He is elected in the majority qualifiee (65 votes) by the 101 members of the Moldavian Parliament. Between the independence and the election of Mircea Snegur, Moldavie was controlled by Valeriu Muravschi.
