Presidential election sénégalaise of 1983

The presidential election sénégalaise of 1983 took place on February 27th, 1983, the same day as the legislative elections. The outgoing president Abdou Diouf carried it with more than 83% of the votes.

Context

Become President of the republic on January 1st, 1981, following the resignation of Senghor, Abdou Diouf stands as a candidate to renew his mandate.

On the whole, five leaders of political trainings clash.

Participation

Rate of participation is of 56,7%, very slightly higher than that of legislative (56,2%).
