The audiodescription is a current practice since years in Great Britain. It is also well established in Germany.

In France

In France, one often finds the " term; Audiovision". It is about a mark pertaining to the association Valentine Haüy, which carries out the translations. The process exists since 1989 and made it possible to double some 200 films and a hundred plays.

Since 1995, the television channel Arte diffuses audiodécrites productions regularly, accessible by the teletext for the people equipped with a receiver Nicam.

In the United States

With the the United States, the technique used is the Descriptive Video Service (DVS), created by chain WGBH based with Boston.
