Présence of the future is a collection of novels of Science-fiction initiated in 1954 by the editions Denoël.

Initially directed by Robert Kanters, the collection takes again some traditional published with the fantastic Rayon, popularizing in France H. - P. Lovecraft, Fredric Brown, the Cycle of Foundation and Ray Bradbury. It then sticks to translate many Anglo-Saxon authors: Brian Aldiss, J.G. Ballard, James Blish, Philip K. Dick, Thomas Disch, Clifford D. Simak, John Varley, Gene Wolfe, Roger Zelazny.

The collection passes then under the direction of Elisabeth Gille, which publishes also several young French authors like Dominique Douay, Jean-Pierre Andrevon, Jean-Pierre Hubert, Serge Brussolo, Emmanuel Jouanne. If the Hard science fiction is not forgotten (Stanislas Lem, Gregory Benford), the accent is related to the literary science fiction, with inter alia the collection of the group Limite. It also published Cyberpunk.

Stopped in 2000, it includes/understands more than 600 titles (of which doubles or triple). The last one carries number 666 and is entitled Route 666 .

As from 1975, the covers will be illustrated, initially inside a central circle, overflowing gradually until occupying all the page at the end of the years 1980.
