Preliminary round of the football world cup 1966
This year, FIFA decides to place all the countries of Africa and Asia in only one group of eliminating heats. This having for result which there could be one of these countries among the 16 qualified, the African countries protest unanimously by withdrawing competition. There remains nothing any more but the North Korea and the Australia. Everyone is certain that Australia will gain, but the Koreans, by showing of a frightening coordination and a great discipline, gain the match and qualify themselves for the following stage.
Despite everything, 51 countries take part in this turn qualifier.
