Pregolya
The Pregolya is a river of the Oblast of Kaliningrad, in the past located in Eastern Prussia, where it was called the Pregel .
The Pregel , whose etymology goes up with the Old man-Prussian preigillis i.e. deep (Russian: Преголя ( Pregolja ), Lituanien Preglius ) is a river of the Oblast de Kaliningrad, half northern of old the Eastern Prussia, now annexed to the Russia. It is long of 123 km, and by counting the Angrapa, one of its principal affluents, 292 km. Its catchment area extends on 15 500 km ². Its medium flow is of 90 m ³ /s.
Cours and junctions with other rivers
Pregel occurs in the west of Tscherniachowsk ( Insterburg ) starting from the junction of the Instrutsch ( Inster ) and of the Angrapa ( Angerapp ) and runs towards the west through broad a Plaine. It is thrown via the Deima ( Deime ), which separates from it with Gwardeisk (ale. Tapiau ), in the Gulf of Courlande and it is connected, always by Deima and the channel Polesski Kanal (the Grande trench of Frederic ) with the Memel river. Pregel is thrown in the Lagune of the Vistula to the downstream of Kaliningrad.
Navigation
This river is navigable on all its course. However, since the construction of the railway line Königsberg - Insterburg at the 19th century, its importance for transport decreased much.
