Prefecture of Nagano

Nagano (長野県; naganoken ) is a prefecture Japan located on the island of Honshū.

History

Before the installation of the system of the prefectures in 1871, the prefecture of Nagano was occupied by the Province of Shinano.

In 1998, the town of Nagano has acueilli the Winter Olympics.

Geography

Characterized by a raised relief, this prefecture does not have a maritime outlet. It is surrounded of the prefectures of Niigata, Gunma, Saitama, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Aichi, Gifu and Toyama.

The principal cities are Nagano, Matsumoto, Ueda.
