Prefecture of Fukuoka

Fukuoka (福岡県, fukuokaken ) is a prefecture Japan, located at the north of the island of Kyūshū (九州).

History

Before the installation of the system of the prefectures in 1871, the prefecture of Fukuoka was occupied by the Province of Chikugo, the Province of Chikuzen and the Province of Buzen.

Fukuoka and Kitakyūshū is the two principal big cities, Fukuoka being more the big city of the island of Kyūshū.

Economy

The main cities of the prefecture of Fukuoka form one of the industrial centers most important of Japan, taking part for more than 40% in the saving in Kyūshū. The most important industries are automotive engineering, the semiconductors and steel.
