Prefecture of Fukui
Fukui (福井県, fukuiken ) is a prefecture Japan located at the center of Honshū.
History
Before the installation of the system of the prefectures in 1871, the province of Ehime was occupied by the Province of Wakasa and the Province of Echizen.
Geography
It is surrounded of the prefectures of Shiga in the south, Gifu in the west and south-west and Ishikawa in the east. In north is the Mer of Japan. There are mountains in the south. For some it is part of the area of Chubu, for others of that of Hokuriku.
Known for its abundant snow in winter.
