Prefect of Egypt

The prefect of Egypt controlled the Egypt during the Roman period, it was selected in the equestrian order because the senators and members of the senatorial order (who occupied the posts of governor normally) did not have the right to go to Egypt.

It had the title of Praefectus Augustalis , which shows that it controlled this essential and rich province in the name of the Roman Emperor (or Auguste).
