Europe

  • the Alamans, Germanic barbarian tribe, cross the the Rhine and cause devastations in Gaulle Eastern, in particular at the towns of Troyes, Lens and Autun.
    • Attack simultaneous of Frank and the Alamans. The very whole line of the Rhine is forced. Forty-five cities, among which Trier, Mainz and Cologne falls and is put at bag by the barbarians. The invasion breaks until Autun. The Germains settle with residence on left bank of the Rhine, the Francs into Germanic higher and Eastern Belgium, Alamans in Alsace.

  • Sylvanus chief frankly rejoined with Constance II in 351 is shown to have fomented a plot against the emperor.
  • August 11th: Sylvanus is made proclaim emperor by his troops with Cologne.
  • September 7th: Sylvanus is assassinated by men of Constance II
  • November 6th: Julien, the brother of Gallus, is made César by his/her cousin Constance II with Milan and marries the girl of this last, Helene.
  • February 1st: Julien, leaves the Italy to take its new functions in Gaulle.
    • Without money and on its arrival almost without troops, Julien the Apostate manages to free Autun and to rejoin with Rheims large Roman troops. It gains the valley of the the Moselle, reinforces its army of frank quotas, re-occupies Trier and Cologne, and returns to winter with Sens. The barbarians, in a renewed attack, come to besiege there, but the city holds good.
  • December: Deportation of the Pape Releases by the emperor Constance II (fine in 357)
    • Synode arien of Milan. The pope Libère is exiled in Thrace to have refused the decrees of the synods ariens. Constance II indicates Felix II to replace it.

  • Appearance of the Huns in southernmost Russia. Under Balamir (or Balamber), Huns advance towards the territories of the Alains, powerful people bench between the the Volga and the Don, of which they put the routed army at the time of a battle on the banks of the Gift (before 375).

Africa

  • an instrument to measure the density of the liquids makes its appearance in North Africa.

Asia

  • the king of Persia Chahpuhr II intervenes in Arménie and Mésopotamie (355 - 356). Did his/her brother Ormizd see taken refuge (since 323?) near the emperor Constancy II and accompanies it in its visit in Rome in 357.
