Pranles

Pranles is a common French, located in the department of the Ardèche and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Located in Boutières, the commune of Pranles extends on an geographical area which the Auzène and the Mézayon limit, two affluents of the Eyrieux.

A third river sprinkles the commune, the Boyon. Formerly, this presence of river supported the development of an economic activity related to the hydraulic force. Today, the landscape remains marked by the presence of old grindings and mills with flour which one meets along Boyon and of Auzène.

Environment with the supra-Mediterranean vegetation (boxwood, pines and chestnuts) guard still an agricultural vocation (ovine breeding especially and breeding out-ground of chickens).

History

The Bouschet-with-Pranles is a hamlet of the commune where was born Marie Durand, resistant Protestant woman celebrates who was locked up in the the Tower of Constancy of Acute-Dead during 38 years.

This museum reports the persecutions undergone by the Protestants after the revocation of the edict of Nantes in 1685.
  • the mill of Mandy is an old mill with flour and oil. Restored and under operation, it presents a room of the grinding stones, a room of mechanics and an exposure on the landscapes and mills of the Ardèche.
