Préty

Préty is a common French, located in the department of Saône-et-Loire and the area Burgundy.

Geography

Ideally located at one kilometer of the the Saone in noneasily flooded zone, the village formerly based its economy on the breeding and the Vigne. Nowadays, the meadows left the place to the Maïs, the vine is not cultivated any more and the meadows are replaced by extensive market gardenings. Its quarries stone pink, exploited since the Middle Ages (turns of the abbey of Tournus) to the last world war, in the high part of the village, yield then the place to argillaceous benches, then with alluvial sands of the Valley of Saône.Depuis 2004, the village is classified Village-flowered two stars.

History

This Village was formerly famous for its career S of pink stones which were used in the construction of many old buildings of the area, in particular beautiful the Abbaye Romance E of Tournus.
The center of the village east completely built besides this stone. If the career is not exhausted, it on the other hand is closed with the exploitation.
  • Time Gallic and former:
the first traces of settlement go back to several centuries before Jesus-Christ.
  • Gallo-Roman Time:
Préty is an important center of provisioning of Tournus. Préty has a Prieuré depend on the Abbaye of Tournus that disputes the Abbé of Tournus, the Count S of Bresse, then the Ducs of Burgundy. The church is destroyed then rebuilt at the 15th century.

Economy

In spite of the very low number of trade (1 bakery, 1 coffee), the prosperous village, passing from approximately 400 inhabitants in the Eighties to approximately 600 in the years 2000. This growth made it possible to preserve its elementary school.
