Précilhon

Précilhon is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

Its inhabitants is called précilhonnais them.

Hydrography

The grounds of the commune are sprinkled by the brooks the Escou, the Labéroû and the Arrigastoû, affluents of the Gave d' Oloron. An affluent of the Gave d' Ossau, the brook Gabarn, also crosses the commune.

The toponym Précilhon appears in the forms Precilhon (1267, titles of Monein), Plessilhoo (1368, notaries of Lucq), Pressilhon (1375, contracts of Luntz), Precilhoo (1385, censier of Béarn), Pressilho (1405, notaries of Navarrenx), Feels-Martii Pressilhoo (1421, notaries of Lucq), Presilhon and Presylho (respectively 1547 and 1548, reformation of Béarn), Persillon (1776, payment of the States de Béarn) and Précillon (1863, topographic dictionary Basque Béarn-Country).

History

Paul Raymond note that in 1385, Précilhon counted 30 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Oloron.
