History

The name of Précigné would come from “Pre Flaring”, the creation of the village being allotted to the Monks clearers of the founded abbey of Perray Neuf in these places about 1299 per Guillaume of the Rocks, lord of Sablé and seneshal of Anjou.

Famous characters

Guillaume of the Rocks, seneshal of Anjou, lord of Sanded, Longué-Binoculars and Castle-of-Dormouse (born in 1165 - died in 1222).

Beautiful father of Amaury de Craon, seneshal of Anjou and lord of Craon. They illustrated together in the Bataille of the Rock-with-Monks in 1214 against the English.
