David Morrell is a Canadian writer born the April 24th 1943 with Kitchener, Canada. It is the creator of the character of John Rambo, who appears for the first time in his novel First Blood, and whom Sylvester Stallone will incarnate with the screen in a series of action films.

Biographical elements

Born in 1943 in Canada, David Morrell decided to become writer by looking at the series televised Route 66, whose quality of writing impressed it.

In 1966, he moves with the the United States and obtains a doctorate in American literature. He learns the bases from the romantic writing near William Tenn and publishes First Blood in 1972, whereas he is professor at the university of the Iowa. He will teach until in 1986 whole while continuing to write. Its novels, whose several best-sellers, are translated in many countries.

Cofounder of the international association Thriller Writer' S Organization it can be regarded as a pioneer of the modern thriller. He received in 2007 the price " Inkpot Award" decreed each year in recognition of an exceptional contribution to the universe of the Cartoon, of animation, popular Science fiction, or other cultural fields.
