Creation

It is in Boston, towards end of the year 80, that all begins. Spider joint with a producer named Lamar Lowder to create a new group with tendences rap/funk. Thus, the group will obtain a name: Mc Spider and will launch Much Evil in 1990. The album was sold enough to gain an special attention and to be made known in the area. Moreover, with this recording, the duet gained the price " Best Rap Act" in Boston Phoenix/WFNX 1990 Readers'.

Quickly, other members will adopt the formation. It is about Dorian Heartsong which will play the low one, Allan Pahanish for the battery and the dj Brian Collymore which will make therevolving ones. During 1991, Lamar Lowder and Brian Collymore leave then all two the group. This first will become musical producer. Spider and Allan share the same musical orientations then, such as Black Sabbath and Public Enemy.

The group, then composed of three only members (Spider, Allan and Dorian) will seek a guitarist during a very short moment. Adam Williams is that which will hold the attention. It is during year 1992 that the transformation towards Powerman 5000, with a style more close to that which one knows today, will be carried out. Little time afterwards, it is with the turn of Jordan Cohen to join the formation as a percussionnist. As of this moment, the group will work on new songs and will work out a new style.

This album will leave in 1994. This disc contains seven titles and it is with this one that the group will be vera to offer a contract by Capitol Records, the company behind Beatles! The group will negotiate, accept, but cancel the whole little time afterwards. To play in spectacle and to write, they are the two priorities of the group and they wish to continue to write their music characterized according to them of killing machine. Produced with a budget of 600 $ US and recorded in less than two days, the small pocket of the album is decorated of a giant, threatening, Japanese robot with the top of an American muscle because. A work of Spider.

True Forces, become symbol of hatred and of frustration in the music scene, will force the group to enter the studios again. After 1 year only, Blood Splat System Rating, produced by Powerman 5000 themselves and Andrew Murdock, is launched via Conscience Records. All about the super hero, of the phenomena of circus, the attacks of shark, insane of Kung fu and more suicidal, such is the way in which Spider described this new recording. Their work would deserve rewards. they gained " besides; Best Album" Metal; , " Best Rap Album" and " Album off the Year" with the survey of the listeners of the chain Phoenix/WFNX (Boston) in 1995.

In a few months, the limited edition of the disc is entirely sold. Once again, the companies of music bite the fingers of them and wish to obtain the rights on these works. According to Al, in 1995, time came for the formation to pass on a following level. Powerman 5000 signs then with Dreamworks Records. The members will be established in the west of the country, in Los Angeles.

With this contract, the group joined one to auditoir broader and Mega!! Radio operator kung fu, a super version charged with the preceding album produces by Powerman 5000 and Mudrock (once again), is launched in February 1997. It will last a year more or less! Little time after, Jordan Cohen leaves the formation.

Dreamworks and Tonight the Revolt Stars!

In 1998, Mike Tempesta, the brother of John Tempesta (Rob Zombie), will be the novel member of the group. With this guitarist, one seeks a aggressif and original style. The group will turn over in studio towards the end of 1998. Twinned to Syvia Massey and Ulrich Wild to produce a new album, the five members will launch Tonight the Stars Revolt!. This title refers to the book 2001: In Space Odyssey de Arthur C. Clarke. Spider explains the selection of this title: the future one is not what it was. If you include/understand this, you will include/understand this album. It is a vision of tomorrow which will not exist any more.

Sold today with more than one million and half of specimens in the United States, this disc is without question a success. Nobody' S Real and When Worlds Collide are titles very requires some during the years 1999 and 2000. The group makes several rounds, of which OzzFest.

The phantom album

Does Powerman 5000 return then with Anyone For Doomsday? in 2001. A few days before the launching of this new opus, Spider announces in the name of the group that the exit is delayed. However, little time afterwards, one learns that Dorian and Alan leave the group on October 30th, 2001 and the album will not be launched at this time for various reasons. But because of a massive request of the album (via remote loading on illegal networks of division), on December 19th, 2003, Anyone For Doomsday? is launched via Megatronic Records with a new small pocket (without booklet). It was then available only on line in limited quantity, but is not however available any more, due to legal reasons. Several arguments explain the reason of the cancellation of the album, such as the terrorist events of September 11th, 2001, in bond with the negative title, in spite of the fact that the album was finished in August 2001, one month complete before the attacks. The singer already expressed in interview which the album was abandoned because it sounded too much like his precedessor and that it wish to publish something of different instead of repeating itself.

Changes and transformation

Between August 2001 and March 2003, the group is without bass player and beater. Spider, Adam12 and M.33 continue to write pieces and, during first half of the year 2002, they will find finally two substitutes: Sigve Sjursen with low and Adrian Ost with the battery. In May 2003, the equipped formation novel members will launch Transform. Very different and lengthily waited, the album will not satisfy everyone. The formation left side their costumes of space to return to the source.

Since 2003, few things occurred, if it is only the loss of Dreamworks Records as a label. The group is calm and present at some spectacles only. Lately, that seems remprendre life with new songs inclusent in video games (WWE: Smackdown vs. Raw, MX vs ATV Unleashed) like their own company of musical production, Megatronic Records, which seems setting-up well.

In January 2005, Mike Tempesta (M.33), which makes party of the formation Scum Of The Earth with Rob Zombie, announces her departure of Powerman 5000. “No great scandal, just an evolution. ”, explained Spider after this advertisement. But it is learned thereafter that it had begun battles between the members. A little later, it is Adam who decides not to make more of round. Thus, Powerman 5000 recruits Johnny Heatley, former guitarist of Halfcocked and Terry Corso, former guitarist of Alien Ant Farm. All together, they record and prepare an album lasting of many and long months. In June 2006, his name is learned: Destroy What You Enjoy. And it is finally in August of the same year that it is available to all.

This group made of Spider, Siggy, Adrian, Johnny and Terry almost did not have the time to be considering which it is already obsolete. Indeed, the two new recruits, Johnny and Terry from go away towards new ways, having each one of other projects. One announces a new album for 2008, but very few details are available for the moment.
