The Power Macintosh G3 Minitour was launched in November 1997 accompanied by the models Desktop. As are name indicates it, it is appeared as a case turn, a little smaller than that of the Power Macintosh series 8000 and 9000. Thanks to the new G3 processor, even the model with 266 MHz hitherto outclassed the elite of the range Macintosh of office, the Power Macintosh 9600 with 300 MHz, for a largely lower price. This speed was partly due to the news Mémoire hiding place of the type Backside given rhythm with half of the frequency of the processor, against 40 or 50 MHz for old Power Mac. It used as memory SDRAM much faster, but used a Hard drive to standard IDE, slower as the old SCSI equipping Power Mac with series 7000,8000 and 9000. The Minitour models had out of standard a chart AV with video and audio inputs/outputs
Only one model was available to the beginning (266 MHz). A model with 300 MHz and equipped of more than memory hiding place and hard drive appeared in March 1998, then finally a model with 333 MHz appeared in August of the same year.
