Power Macintosh 6200

The Power Macintosh 6200 was a Power Macintosh 5200 LLC in a compact case of Quadra 630. It was marketed only in Asia and Europe, but its versions for the general public, the Performa of the series 6200 ( Performa 6200 , 6205 , 6210 , 6214 , 6216 , 6218 , 6220 and 6230 !) were sold in the whole world.

In spite of the use of a processor PowerPC 603 given rhythm with 75 MHz, more recent and more rapid that the PowerPC 601 of the Power Macintosh 6100 /66, the performances of these two machines remained equivalent. The main reason was that the Mother chart 6200 was based on that growing old of the Quadra 605 (containing processor 68040), in order to reduce the costs.

The Performa 6200 was launched at the beginning of May 1995, and the Power Macintosh 6200 one month later. The other models of Performa left in July 1995. All the versions were withdrawn from the catalog Apple in April or May 1996.
