PowerBook Duet
The PowerBook Duo are a series of computers ultra-portables marketed by Apple between October 1992 and February 1997. The originality of the PowerBook Duo is that they were conceived to be connected to a dock which extended their capacities.
Seven models of PowerBook Duo left: the Duet 210, 230, 250, 270c, 280, 280c and 2300c. The Duo 2xx were based around processors Motorola 68030 or 68LC040 given rhythm to 25 or 33 MHz, the Duo 2300c being the only one to use a processor PowerPC, much more powerful (a PowerPC 603 E to 100 MHz in fact).
The PowerBook Duo weighed generally less than 2 kg (the laptops of the time weighed often more than 3 kg, even 4 kg), made approximately 3,5 cm thickness and integrated screens LCD of 8,4 or 9,1 inches of diagonal. Because their low thickness, they integrated only one minimum of components and ports: they had reader of Disquette and neither port ADB, nor port SCSI (only a Série port/Lan was present). Their strong point was the connector 152 pins with the back which made it possible to connect them to a specific dock, and which conferred on the Duo , once connected, of additional storage space, a arithmetic coprocessor, more Mémoire hiding place, a broad connector industry, a reader of Disquette, slots of extension NuBus, or of the video Mémoire to connect a external screen.
