History

Having made studies of engineer to the Stanford University, George Powell started to manufacture her clean skateboards in 1957. In 1974, his/her son came to require a board of him. George drew an old woman from it from her garage, but when his/her son complained that it was deprived of wheels in Uréthane, George found all her interest for the skateboard and it realized at which point the wheels out of urethan made the difference. It then started again to make its own boards and wheels. It was also interested in new materials, like the Aluminum and the Glass fiber to make its composite matter boards. One of its test-riders for one of its flexible boards of slalom was Stacy Peralta.

When Powell was returned of her job in aerospace industry, it packed its bags, left Los Angeles for Santa Barbara (California), and launched out entirely in the manufacture of skates. In 1976, it built in particular the board Quicksilver ProSlalom, then Quicktail, marketing via Sims .

In 1979, it created a team of skateurs whom they called the Bones Brigade. Powell Peralta developed a single style, with a logo representing a skeleton. It produced the vidéos Bones Brigade (“Public domain”, “Propaganda”,…), which was among the most influential vidéos of the time.
