Poujeaux castle
The castle Poujeaux , is a wine field of 52 ha only one holding in the Médoc, located at Moulis-in-Medoc in the Gironde. It is a AOC Moulis-in-Medoc which belongs to the believed middle-class exceptional.
History of the field
To the 16th century, the castle belonged to current the Château Latour. It was known under the name of the Room of Poujeaux.In 1921, the castle was acquired by François Theil.
The soil
In the middle of the commune of Moulis-in-Medoc draws up the hill appelléé Grand Poujeaux . It is about a gravelly croup several meters thickness and which dates from the Glaciation of Günz.On a ground made with low register 80% on calcareous substrate with asteries, and 20% argilo-limestone, the vineyard is planted in Cabernet-sauvignon to 50%, Merlot to 40%, Petit verdot to 5%, and Cabernet-franc to 5%. The grapes come from vines, whose average age is 30 years.
Wine
The cuvaison, from 20 to 25 days, is menéé in tanks out of concrete and stainless with regular Remontage S. The malolactic Fermentation takes place in Barrique S in oak. After assembly, the wine rests 12 months out of barrels of oak, including 50% renewed annually.
The second wine of the castle is called the Room of Poujeaux .
