Potidée
Potidée (in Greek old Ποτίδαια/ Potidaia ) is a colony based by the Corinthiens towards 600 av. J. - C. on the Western point of the Chalcidique, in Thrace, to facilitate the trade with the Macedonia.
It entered the Ligue of Délos. However, as Corinthe sent to each year its supreme magistrate to him, Potidée was inevitably mingled with all the conflicts between Athens and Corinthe.
She revolted against Athens in 432, but was besieged and taken in 430 during the Peloponnesian War.
The Clérouque S Athenians preserved the city until in 404, date on which it passed to the hands Chalcidiens.
Athens took it again in 363, but in 356 Potidée fell into the hands from Philippe II from Macedonia. He destroyed the city and gave his territory to the Olynthiens. Cassandre builds a new city on its territory. He baptized it Cassandrée.
