Potentille ansérine

The potentille ansérine , also called potentille of the geese ( Potentilla anserina ) is a plant of the family of the Rosaceae and kind Potentilla very common in all Western Europe.

Description

It is a crawling plant, which produces Stolon S. One recognizes it in particular with his long pennate sheets with many toothed leaflets. The flowers are yellow and the plant can measure nearly 50 cm. The fruit is a akene réniforme.

Habitat

Live plant at the edge of fossées, in the grounds limestones and rather wet.

Uses

Pharmacopeia

  • properties: very astringent, it would be also antispasmodic, hemostatic, odontalgic, analgesic by contact

  • Préparation in the form of Décoction, oenolé, dyeing, extracted liquid used only or not.
  • Of external use, in the form of distillate it relieves rednesses and cutaneous irritations of the babies. The powder calms the Ulcère S and gives a collutoire against the Pyorrhée.

The potentille ansérine also would have been used against calculations in the Gall bladder and intestinal colics.

Etymology

Its name comes from Latin “anser” which means goose , because of the similarity of the sheets with goose legs.
