Posio

Posio is a municipality the North-East of the Finland, in Finnish Lapland. In 1971, the company of ceramics Pentik is founded in this moved back municipality, and became since true a Success-story (73 shops in Finland, 7 in Norway, 3 in Sweden and 1 with the Denmark). Attached to its roots, the company remains the principal private employer of the city, and the possibility of visiting the factory attracts the Finnish tourists.

Geography

The municipality is marked by the importance of the lakes, 14% of the total surface area, by far the most important proportion in Lapland (what brings closer more Posio of the Koillismaa). The main thing is the lake Yli-Kitka. The relief is more broken than in the coastal communes but only the Riisitunturi, vestige of the mounts Carélides, constitutes a notable solid mass of importance. It is surrounded by the national park of the even name. The commune also includes/understands part of the National park of Syöte. The commune is very forest, with some fields allowing agriculture. The breeding of the Renne S also is practiced but very limited.

The population is distributed on 22 villages and hamlets, the village centers ( Ahola ) concentrating 40% of the total population.
