Posidoniaceae

The family of the Posidoniacées includes/understands 9 S belonging all to the Posidonia .

They are entirely submerged, perennial, rhizomateuses sea plants of the hot and subtropical moderate zones (Mediterranean circumference - 1 species, Posidonia oceanica - and west coast of the Australia - 8 species -).

In the Mediterranean, Posidonia oceanica , form what is called “herbaria of posidonies”.

These herbaria are threatened by " the alga tueuse" , the Caulerpa taxifolia, which proliferates today in the Mediterranean after its accidental introdution by the aquarium of Monaco.
