PGA or Portugália Airlines (Code AITA: NOR ; Code ICAO: PGA ) is a Portuguese Airline company .
History
If the idea to create a new company for the market of commercial aviation were born in 1987, on the initiative of Coopav (Co-operative of pilots), of Transconsult (a cabinet of studies) and of Grupo Espírito Santo (banking environment), the public limit company was created only the July 25th 1988, with exclusively Portuguese and deprived capital.However the beginning of its activity was delayed by the publication of the law on the liberalization of air transport. The first flight was a Lisbon - Oporto, the July 7th 1990, with a Fokker 100. The same day, began the line Lisbon Faro.
Since 2003, Portugalia is partner of TAP Portugal, the other principal Portuguese company.
It transported 985.500 passengers in 2004, in progression of 22,7% compared to 2003 (and of 10,8% compared to 2001).
The June 2nd 2006, it is announced that Portugalia will join alliance Skyteam as an associated member during the year 2008. Only, following its repurchase by TAP (member of alliance opposed to SkyTeam), its bringing together is cancelled, just as the flights operated for the account of Air France starting from the new program IATA of at the end of March 2007.

In order to increase its capacity of flights, PGA - Portugália Airlines signs agreements of division of code with companies of reputation. Without putting side the compromise of quality to which it engaged towards its passengers and offering a service of follow-up of the luggage, since the starting airport until the final destination, the flights operated in division of code makes it possible to offer a vaster choice of destinations and schedules in Europe and North Africa.Belong to this agreement, four companies nationalized - Air France, Alitalia, KLM and TAP Portugal, and two private companies, Air Europa and Regional Air Lines.
