Portia Simpson-Miller
Portia Simpson-Miller (born the December 12th 1945), is a political woman, Prime Minister for the Jamaica of the March 30th 2006 with the September 11th 2007. It is also the leader of the national left the people jamaïcain.
It replaces P.J. Patterson, while becoming the third woman head of government in the anglophone Antilles, after Eugenia Charles of the Dominique and Janet Jagan of Guyana.
In 2007, it is classified like the 81e the most powerful woman in the world by the magazine Forbes .
Political career
She was elected the first time at the Parliament in 1976 as representing south-west of the Paroisse of Saint Andrew. In 1983, the PNP boycotts the elections.She is, wellbeing and sport Minister for Labor of 1989 with 1993 and her return to the Parliament.
She was and wellbeing Minister for Labor of 1993 with 1995 then, social security and sport Minister for Labor of 1995 with February 2000, then Minister for tourism and the sports of févier 2000 with October 2002 and finally local Minister for the governorship and the sports of October 2002 with the March 30th 2006 where she became president.
She resigns the September 11th 2007 after the failure of her party to legislative of the beginning of the month.
