Portelone
A portelone is an opening practiced in the hull of a Navire for the loading or the unloading of the goods in tween deck. This system comprises disadvantages and advantages.
- Advantages:
- Possibility of direct rolling in tween deck.
- Possibility of loading under the rain by protecting the access to the ship.
- Disadvantages:
- Problems which had with the Marling, the variation of the drafts of the ship progressively of its loading/unloading.
- sealing of the portelones to the sea.
- Possibly problems of vertical transfer of the goods in other tween decks and/or holds.
