Porte de Versailles
The carries from Versailles is one of the access of Paris on its layout of 1860. It is located at the edge of the XV {{E}} district. The penetration in the city is done by the Rue of Vaugirard which has one of its ends there (the street of Vaugirard is the longest street of Paris, it starts with the Saint-Michel boulevard and finishes door of Versailles).
The door of Versailles is joint town of Iso-the-Moulineaux and owes its name with its orientation which makes it possible to reach the town of Versailles.
The characteristic of the district is to accommodate the principal exhibition site of Paris. Built in 1923, it is currently most important in France and 4th in Europe. On a surface of 220.000 m ², on which 8 halls rise, take place nearly 200 living rooms per annum. It also includes/understands 32 meeting rooms and 3 amphitheaters. The site is the property of Paris Expo of which it constitutes the greatest establishment.
The principal annual demonstrations are the international fair of agriculture (700 000 visitors), the Mondial of the car (1,5 visitors million, every two years), the international Nautical trade fair of Paris nautical trade fair simultaneously with living room of the swimming pool and the living room of the horse, the living room of the book, the fair of Paris, the Apple Expo.
The site of the Porte de Versailles takes over thus, starting from the beginning of the Années 1960, of the Large palace become too skimped to receive the exposures in full expansion which constitute the Motor Show, that of domestic Arts, the Fair of Paris, the Living room of Childhood, the Living room of the Book…
A subway station is established there, old southern terminus of the subway line, now prolonged to the town hall of Iso-the-Moulineaux, to see Porte de Versailles (subway of Paris).
Since December 2006, the tram also has a stop there. In June 2009, it, whose current terminus is located at Iso-the-Moulineaux, will be prolonged to the Porte de Versailles, making it possible to connect this one directly to Defense and Bezons.
