Manpower of the police service increased at the same time as the number of the installations concerned with the harbor authority (in particular the opening of the Holland tunnel, in 1927, and the creation of three airports subway and a shipping terminal, in the Forties). In the Fifties, the terminal of the buses opened. Then, the harbor authority also took the control of system PATH, known in the past under the name of The Hudson and Manhattan Tubes (either the complex of underground trains connecting the town of New York to the suburbs located in the State of the New Jersey, separated from the island of Manhattan by Hudson River).
