Port-in-Bessin-Huppain
Port-in-Bessin-Huppain is a common French, located in the department of the Calvados and the area Basse-Normandie.
Geography
The port is located in a infractuosity of high cliffs bordering the English Channel between that of the Manor house at the east, and that of Huppain in the west.
History
The port, occupied since the Gallo-Roman time, accommodated the shipyards of William the Conqueror which prepared its fleet to invade the England.Released the June 6th 1944 at the time of the Operation Overlord, Port-in-Bessin becomes as of on June 16th network head of a system of pipelines of approximately 120 km intended to supply the allies while carburizing. At the end of August 1944 this system is supplemented by the Opération PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean), which will see the pause of pipelines between the island of Wight and Querqueville close to Cherbourg.

Places and monuments
On cliff, at the entry of the port was built in 1694 the tower Vauban by the architect Benjamin de Combe to supervise the corsairs and to prevent the English invasions.
The church Saint Andre was built of 1880 with 1898 by the Moutier architect to replace the old sanctuary of the 12th century, the nave having become too exiguous vis-a-vis the increase in population.
The church Saint Pierre of Huppain, which depended on the abbey of Cerisy-the-Forest date Des.
The church Saint Nicolas of Villiers-on-Port also dates from but it is in ruins since the 19th century.
The museum of the wrecks of the unloading presents all kinds of objects and vehicles found to the bottom of water the shortly after the unloading.
