Port-Cross-country race
Port-Cross-country race is a National park French which extends on the islands from Port-Cross-country race and Bagaud and on the small islands from Gabinière and Rascas, in the Mediterranean. The island was given to the State against the promise to make a national park of it, reserves fauna and flora, it belongs to the archipelago of the islands of Hyères (or Gold islands). The sources of the island explain the richness of its vegetation. Long 4,5 km and broad of 2, its highest point is with 207 m, its occupied territory 700 Hectare S of emerged grounds and 1.288 hectares of marine surfaces, which makes the first European marine park of it. It was created the December 14th 1963 and is only whose State is entirely owner.
The island belongs to the commune of Hyères.
Port-cross-country race which was the Mass (island of the Medium) of the Greeks, owes its current name with the shape in hollow of its small port. Some houses of fishermen, a small church, a castle furnish the circumference with the bay which the fort of Eminence dominates. Port-cross-country race is escarpée than its neighbors.

- At the XXe century, Port-Cross-country race was regularly attended by many intellectuals, in particular André Malraux, André Gide, Saint-John Perse, Paul Valéry or Jules Supervielle which made fort of the Mill its family residence.

The avifauna comprises in particular the Goéland leucophée (nichor) and the Aigle boot (migrating rare).
