Port-Couvreux

Port-Couvreux is a locality of the Grande Ground of the Kerguelen where took place one of the only attempts at human installation on this Archipel.

History

A breeding of Mouton S is installed there in 1912. Four shepherds fix themselves at it. It will leave in 1914, because of the First World War.

Stockbreeders settle there again in 1922. But after many difficulties, they will be evacuated definitively in 1931.
