History of the faience manufacture

Gien is a city known in the world of the Porcelaine. The Faience manufacture of Gien was founded in 1821 by English Thomas Hall who wanted to introduce in France the manufacture of English fine earthenware. The production initially started with utility crockery then it was directed towards the manufacture of service and decorative part, sets of table linen to the weapons of the big families. The Faience manufacture works unceasingly with the improvement of quality and the artistic development. This philosophy enabled him to carry out exceptional parts with the various World Fairs from 1855 to 1900. At the XXe century, in spite of the wars and the crises, modernization and creation continue.
