Population pyramid

The population pyramid is a tool Statistique of demographic study . It represents the distribution of a Population by age bracket and sex at a given moment, in the form of a double history. By convention, the men are placed on the left and the women on the right. The horizontal axis represents manpower and the vertical axis the ages.
The form of the Pyramide depends on the Fécondité, the Mortalité and the migration. There exist various profiles of the population pyramids:
- the profile " champignon" with a narrow base and a broad top
- the profile " pyramidal" with a broad base and a fine top
- the profile " paquebot" with a base which starts by widening before narrowing towards the end
- the profile " pagode" with a base which starts by widening before narrowing
