Popular movement of the Revolution

The Popular movement of Revolution (MPR) is a political party of Democratic republic of Congo, founded the May 20th 1967 by Joseph-Desired Mobutu. Sole party of which all the Congoleses (or Zairean) were members of right and this as of their birth, it became the exclusive and legitimate of political life, economic and social instrument of the country. The ideology which animates it is Mobutisme, literally " the thought, lesson and acts of the president-founder of MPR". Behind this ideological frontage, the MPR allowed Mobutu and its " famille" to monopolize the political power while framing the population strictly.

Its current president is Felix Vundwawe You Pemako. The MPR introduces a candidate (among 32 other candidates) to the presidential election of the July 30th 2006, Catherine Nzuzi. On the relatively restricted political space of the partisans mobutists, it will have to face the competition of Pierre Pay-Pay (former governor of the Central Bank of Zaire of 1985 to 1991, disastrous period of Zaïrianisation of the economy) and of François Joseph Nzanga Mobutu, wire of late the " president-fondateur".

Also let us note: That the party was renamed made MPR deprives by its current leaders after a long argument with the center even of those which are claimed as being the worthy successors of late Maréchal Mobutu; inter alia its natural own family and her former political collaborators.
