Use as model species
P. trichocarpa has several qualities making of him a model good of study to include/understand the physiology of the trees.
-
Its growth is very fast
- economic Importance, it is very required by the industrialists
- the size of sound Génome
The sequence of the genome was published in 2006. The genome contains 485±10 million pairs of bases distributed on 38 Chromosome S. Environ 45.500 Gène S coding of the Protéine S were identified. This study will make it possible to contribute to work concerning the improvement of the resistance of the poplar to the Pathogène S and Insecte S Phytophage S, the physiology and the genetics of the trees and the formation of wood. It will also contribute to better including/understanding the evolution of the Angiosperme S.
