Popeye is the name of a character of Cartoon and cartoon films, created by Elzie Crisler Segar in 1929.
It initially appeared as a supporting character in the Comic strip The Thimble Theater , on January 17th, 1929 (he was a sailor which escorted been engaged and the brother of Olive at the time of a voyage at sea). Thereafter, it ends up having a series with its name. After the death of Segar (which signs with a Cigare), in 1938, the series is taken again by Tom Sims and Ralph Stein (scenarios) and after Dic Winer, Joe Musialet Bill Zaboly (drawings). As from 1958, it is Bud Sagendorf which carries out the series, leaving the daily strips to Bobby London as from 1986.

Popeye
Popeye (in English Popeye the Sailor ), in the beginning, is a sailor, but he endorses other roles during the few 600 episodes which account the series of animation. The adventures of Popeye the sailor last 5 minutes. The recurring scenario shows Brutus (famous Bluto in the original english language version), the dark side of Popeye (he is also sailor), which tries by all the means of alluring its been engaged, Olive Oyl. Popeye the sailor was the subject of a live adaptation to the cinema: Popeye by Robert Altman, on a scenario of Jules Feiffer in 1980 with Robin Williams in the title role and Shelley Duval in the role of Olive Oyl.
