Pop Korean culture

If the Korean traditional culture is very alive in South Korea, a modern popular culture developed since the democratization of the country at the end of the years 1980. The pop culture Korean reaches today the other countries of Asia, parallel to the strengthening of the economic power of the tenth worldwide economy: in August 2007, a traditional exposition with the pop Korean culture, in the presence of Korean actors, was organized with Tokyo by Forever, Asian Star Culture Expo (FACE), and of the similar exposures are considered in other countries of Asia.

In Korea, this phenomenon is called Hallyu (한류) or " coréenne" vagueness;.

The success of the " pop culture coréenne" in Korea and Asia rests on its double capacity to integrate foreign influences and elements specifically Korean and Asian, while being different from the American Culture and the Japanese Culture, one and the other marked by the imperialism present or passed of these States to Asia.

The two most important components of Korean vagueness are the televised series (like Sonate of Winter, which obtained a success striking down in Japan, and Goong) and the artists musical (of which most famous is undoubtedly 비 (Rain), elected recently among the 50 most influential personalities in 2006 by the American magazine Times). The South Korean Cinéma also knows, to a lesser extent, a certain success abroad. The Korean cartoons (Manwha) have a primarily domestic public.

The " pop culture" South Korea watch the tension between the traditional Korean values, impregnated by the order confucéen, a strong national identity and the respect of the community, and the aspiration with a greater individualism, in a country having reached there is less than twenty years to the Consumer society.
