Characteristics of this sport
Pony/Mounted - Ranges (PMG) is an equestrian discipline which is still seen associating many generally accepted ideas on the seriosity of this sport which does not have, however, nothing ridiculous.
The discipline arrives to us from England and unloads in France in the years 1990. It marks an immediate passion and takes part in the " phenomenon poney". This discipline is also practiced in many countries in Europe, in particular in Germany, England, Pays of Galle, Northern Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Norway,… but also in America with the United States and Canada, in Oceania with Australia and New Zealand and even in Africa with South Africa and Bostwana.
" PMG" are a series of equestrian plays. They are played in team and line. It is thus not a sport where the various teams have contacts between them, like football or Rugby for example. These plays proceed in the form of relay between four riders (for the tests in team), two (for the pairs) or of a simple passage (for the individual ones).
The discipline is based on a payment strict and precise (the French payment being different from international), primarily to privilege the safety of the riders as much as that of équidés at the time of let us compétitons. In France, 32 plays are approved whereas the Anglo-Saxons (international payment) have approximately 70 of them.
These plays are also beneficial on the physical and mental level. The riders want to learn and to be exceeded in harmony with their pony, to save their team. The Pony/Mounted-Ranges are opened with everyone, whatever the age. There exist several categories of course making it possible to gather the various riders according to their level.
The most important concept, is the " fair-play". It is besides on this basis that this sport was created. In Petit Larousse Illustrated 2001, it is defined like " practical of the sport in the respect of the rules, the spirit of the play and the adversaire". Moreover, the respect of the people present in pony-ranges like the other riders, trainers, of course judges but also of the material. No verbal or physical transport is accepted, towards which that is.
Pony Games is true a " sport spectacle" (with high level) on the one hand because the riders compete between them of address and speed while giving the impression to do only one with their pony, on the other hand because the spectators can encourage freely with voice or other, a little as with football, by creating an environment more festive than that of a contest of jump of obstacles or raising.

Competitions
The competitions can be individual, by pair or, generally, team.
In the case of the competitions by teams, to eight teams can play simultaneously. A team is composed of five riding couples/ponies of which four take part in each play. This makes it possible to make play the couples rider-ponies by taking account of their strong points and thus to establish true strategies of teams.
At the end of each play, points are allotted to the competitors according opposite to their order of arrival to which a point is added. For example, in a competition with five teams, the first will capitalize six points and the last two points. In the event of elimination, the eliminated team receives a point nevertheless. Gaining will be indicated by the office plurality of all the points obtained in the plays. If several teams are with equality, an additional play will be used to decide between them: the tie break (in general, play of the 5 flags).
