Pontpoint

Pontpoint is a common French.

It is located at the South of the area Picardy, in the department of the Oise.

Geography

Delimited in north by the Oise, in the south by the Forest of Halatte, in the west by the Abbey of Moncel and in the east by a1 highway, Pontpoint belongs Bridge-Holy-Maxence to the canton of , of the Community of communes of the Countries of Oise and Halatte and of the district of Senlis.

Located at 55 km from Paris, 20 of Compiegne, 13 of Creil and 14 of Senlis, this commune is bordering on Houdancourt, Longueil-Holy-Marie, Rhuis, Roberval, Villeneuve-on-Verberie, Villers-Saint-Frambourg and Bridge-Holy-Maxence.

Its surface is of 1910 ha divided into 727 timbered, 850 cultivated, 250 urbanized and 83 various. She is located at coast 30 on the level of the valley of Oise and 218 at the culminating point of the Pagnotte mount.

1832 : the cholera decimates 300 people on the commune.

1848 : the hamlet of Moru is definitively attached to Pontpoint.

The royal abbey of Moncel

The Abbaye Saint-Jean-Baptist of Moncel was founded in 1309 per Philippe the Beautiful one. The abbey was directed by the clarisses of. The manor of Saint-Symphorien
